3-Step Process:

  1. Initial Consultation
  2. Delivery/Bonding
  3. Ongoing Visits

1. Initial Consultation

Your initial consultation will give you the opportunity to meet Dr. Trohatos, learn about orthodontics and the importance of treatment, undergo an orthodontic exam in our private treatment room, and discuss which treatment options best meet your needs.

Here is what you can expect at your initial consultation:

  • An introduction to the clinic.
  • Our treatment coordinator will review your dental and medical history.
  • Our treatment coordinator will ask you questions to get a better understanding of your orthodontic concerns and treatment preferences.
  • We will complete records that will provide us with a comprehensive look at your teeth and jaw to determine treatment options. These records include:
    • Digital photographs
    • A preliminary iTero scan and simulation (this is a digital, no mess scan!)
    • X-ray (if prescribed by Dr. Trohatos and if this has not already been completed with your family dentist.)
  • Dr. Trohatos will complete an oral exam and assessment by reviewing the records taken and by examining your teeth and jaw mobility.
  • Dr. Trohatos will create a customized treatment plan with you based on your orthodontic needs.
  • Our financial coordinator will discuss all financial information and payment options with you.

We kindly ask that you bring all decision makers to your consultation appointment.

Please see our Let’s Prepare You section below for more information on how you can prepare for your initial consultation.

2. Delivery/Bonding

After your consultation, we will schedule your first appointment to place or fit you for your new orthodontic appliance. Whether is it a delivery for Invisalign® or a bonding for LightForce™ or metal braces, this appointment is for:

  • The installation of your appliance.
  • Providing you with instructions on maintenance and management of your appliance.
  • Teaching you an oral hygiene routine to help you maintain healthy teeth and gums while in treatment.
  • Going through our compliance protocols to help ensure your treatment is completed within the prescribed treatment time.

It takes approximately six weeks for appliances to be manufactured specially for you.

3. Ongoing Visits

Our office will work with you to ensure that your appointments are as convenient as possible. Your care isn’t just limited to chair time in our office. At Orthodontics on Danforth, we use AI-assisted technology to provide virtual care through the use of DentalMonitoring and Virtual Care AI. These remote monitoring systems allow us to monitor your progress outside of the clinic, therefore, making treatment much more convenient and less demanding for frequent office visits. It’s a win-win on both sides!

Check out Our Technologies page to learn more about DentalMonitoring and Virtual Care AI.

It is very important that you continue to visit your family dentist regularly during your orthodontic treatment for routine dental checkups and cleanings. If extra dental work is necessary, we will coordinate with your family dentist and/or any other specialists needed, to ensure that you receive the care that you need.

Let's Prepare You

Here is what you can do to come prepared for your consultation appointment:

  • Complete and submit a Health History Form
  • Check with your insurance provider on the terms of your insurance coverage. Details you can look into beforehand are:
  • Does your dental plan cover orthodontic treatment?
  • If yes, what percentage of your treatment is covered?
  • Are there limitations to coverage? (I.e. age, maximum dollar amount, etc.)
  • Payment submission requirements
  • Please send us your most recent Pan X-ray from your family dentist.
  • Have an updated dental cleaning (within the past six months).
  • If you have any outstanding dental work or restorations that need to be completed, please complete them prior to your consultation appointment.
