Invisalign is a clear aligner therapy that uses a series of virtually invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that shift your teeth in a series of very small movements throughout the course of your treatment, allowing you to smile more during treatment as well as after.

Invisalign clear aligners are made with 3D computer imaging technology. After completing your initial intraoral scan using our iTero scanner, Dr. Trohatos will create a customized treatment plan specially for you. Invisalign offers a highly customized experience utilizing its AI capabilities. The Outcome Simulator enables you to see what your smile can look like once treatment is completed. With Invisalign’s 3D visual interface, Dr. Trohatos is able to customize your treatment by skillfully planning how your teeth need to be shifted. Following her input and specifications, the mapping software uses a special algorithm to calculate the right amount of force needed for every tooth movement to be moved as Dr. Trohatos intends.

Once Dr. Trohatos has created your treatment plan based on your orthodontic needs, she will submit the order for your aligners to be manufactured as she designed them. Think of it as blueprints coming to life!

When your aligners are delivered, you will come into our office for your delivery appointment. At your delivery appointment, we will place “attachments” on your teeth. Attachments are given designated positions by Dr. Trohatos so that they can aid the aligners in creating the subtle but effective tooth movements necessary to achieve the optimal outcome. These attachments are like small tooth-coloured buttons that are attached to your teeth. Not to worry, they are very small and barely noticeable. Even though they are small, they are very effective in aligning your teeth without the need for braces.

Why would I want it?

Not only are the aligners virtually invisible, but they are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. You will be able to brush and floss the same as you usually do, except more frequently, as you should brush and floss after every meal. Although clear aligner therapy is more convenient, it is only effective if compliance is met. This means that in order for your aligners to work, you must wear them as prescribed. Keeping them on at all times, except for when eating meals, drinking anything other than water, or while conducting your oral hygiene protocols. It is imperative that you maintain your oral health and hygiene as well as the cleanliness of the aligners.

How does it work?

You wear each set of aligners for about one week, only removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week-by-week — until they have straightened to their final positions. With Virtual Care AI, we will be able to track your progress remotely, keeping us connected with your treatment progression and compliance. It will give you a direct line of communication to us, so you can rest assured knowing that your care is being monitored. Using Virtual Care AI makes treatment more convenient, effective, and a team effort. You'll visit us about once every 12 – 16 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
